Yes Day is the perfect film to watch this Mother’s Day. Jennifer Garner and Édgar Ramírez star as parents who usually tell their kids “no” to anything they ask for. But one day, they decide to give their kids a day where they have to say “yes” to their most wildest requests. The comedy film is based on the children’s book titled the same name by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld. Viewers absolutely enjoyed the film and a sequel is currently in development.
Otherhood is a good mother-son movie to watch on Mother’s Day. It follows three best friends who meet up for their annual Mother’s Day brunch to talk about how neglected they feel by their now-adult sons. Suddenly, they come up with a mission: to drive all the way to New York City to reconnect with their sons. Obviously, the mothers showing up unannounced isn’t going to go well. Angela Bassett, Patricia Arquette, and Felicity Huffman star as the three best friends and they give outstanding performances. Otherhood is definitely a must-watch this Mother’s Day.
Dumplin’ is one of the best mother-daughter movies on Netflix. Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald star as mother and daughter in a film about a young teen who signs up for her mom’s pageant as a protest but doesn’t expect others to follow in her footsteps. It’s a film adaptation of the bestselling young adult novel titled the same name by Julie Murphy. Critics and viewers alike enjoyed Dumplin’, so you should give it a watch if you haven’t already.
You probably were only expecting comedies or dramas to be on our list. Sometimes, you want to change things up on Mother’s Day by turning on a thriller movie. I Am Mother is set years after humanity’s mass extinction. The story follows a teenage girl named Daughter who was raised by a robot named Mother in a post-apocalyptic bunker. Suddenly, life as she knows it changes when a stranger arrives. Clara Rugaard, Rose Byrne, and Hilary Swank star in this science fiction thriller film.
Technically, Fun Mom Dinner isn’t a Netflix original movie, but it’s currently streaming on Netflix. Fun Mom Dinner follows three moms who aren’t necessarily friends, but all know each other because their kids attend the same preschool class. One day the women decide to get together for a harmless dinner away from the kids, but the dinner quickly goes awry. However, due to the copious amounts of alcohol, karaoke singing, and cute bartender, the women end up having a night to remember.
