Jared Leto had a friend ask for two models’ digits, but the models rejected him

Here are some assorted photos of Jared Leto this week. He attended the Oscar luncheon, he went to the Hollywood Reporter party in LA, and then he flew to New York for the tail-end of NYFW. Do you notice anything different about Jared in all of these photos? HE SHAVED. Sort of. He shaved off the Amish-looking beard he’s had for the first half of his Oscar campaign. I like this new, clean-shaven (ish) look. It makes him look younger and prettier. Now if he would just do something with the rest of his hair. I know many of you love his long hair and yes, it’s pretty… but I wish he would stop with the center part and I feel like he needs a good trim too. Meanwhile, Page Six has a funny story about Jared striking out with some ladies:

Jared Leto struck out Tuesday when he asked a female friend to help him ask for two models’ phone numbers at a Fashion Week bash.

The Oscar-nominated “Dallas Buyers Club” star was chatting with and “twirling around” the models at Guess’ On the Road to Nashville party.

Later, Leto sent his friend over to get their numbers. But, to his surprise “They said no,” our spy reports.

The next day, he was 35 minutes late to Jeremy Scott’s showing and looked sheepish as he was escorted in by Kelly Cutrone.

Well, you win some, you lose some. Maybe those ladies didn’t want to get with an ageless vampire rock star and presumptive Oscar winner. Maybe those ladies were saving it for…? Leo? Who knows.

When Jared attended the Oscar luncheon, he also had some nice stuff to say about his mom Constance:

“The biggest lesson she taught me was to dream, and then do the work it takes to make dreams a reality… You get these opportunities to stand up here and say something. The best part is to be able to thank the people that have believed in you for so long. I could spend every single one of these events thanking my mother and talking about my mom. She’s the best. We were born very poor — into pretty humble surroundings. My mother always wanted to do something better with her life. She wanted to do something better for her children. She was a dreamer. She was a worker. She still is.”

There is a streak of DiCaprio here, I think. Leo adores his mother too, and I think Jared and Leo’s relationships with their moms is one of the big reasons both men are so commitment-phobic. It’s just a theory I have. Maybe I’m wrong.
