Jon Gosselin is a waiter, it’s ‘disgusting’ to suggest he can’t make ends meet

The good news is that Jon Gosselin is working an honest job after squeezing the last bit of cash out of his dwindling fame. Good for him. Kate Gosselin should follow his lead and get back to work as a nurse. The other side is that Jon Gosselin is giving interviews trying to get more fame out of the fact that he’s fallen so far from where he was. Jon vowed in 2011 to have given his last interview, which of course didn’t happen. There were several subsequent interviews with Jon complaining about his money situation and admitting that he’d moved to a cabin in a remote location. Now Jon is working as a waiter in a restaurant, and he wants everyone to know to that he’s not struggling and that it’s “disgusting” to think he is. The guy has admitted that he can’t pay his high child support. It’s not such a stretch to think that he can’t make ends meet, but he finds that offensive.

On if he’s struggling to make ends meet
No. I don’t know why people said that. They said it because I’m waiting tables, which is really disgusting.

On if he’s hit rock bottom
I’ve hit rock bottom like 20 times. I just bounce back and go somewhere else.

On how hard it is to find work
Next to nearly impossible to find work.

On if he made millions
Uh no. I mean I haven’t grossed millions and millions of dollars. I don’t like to talk about money that much.

On waiting tables
At first I was nervous because I was like, “How are people going to react?” But then I’m thinking, “Well, it’s fun and I get to talk to people.” And they technically already know me … they’re like, “Are you the guy?” I’m like, “Yeah, I’m the guy.”

On partying with Christian Audiger and attending events
I was living the high life because everyone was paying for it. And I had to earn income to pay for my legal fees.

I went there [to big cities] because it was contracted so I could earn income to pay my attorneys to protect me in court.

On if he still parties
I [party] now on a different level

On if he regrets the reality show
I don’t regret anything, because you learn from your mistakes. That’s what builds you to who you are today

Jon is doing what he has to do to survive and support his kids, and I guess an interview with Entertainment Tonight is included in that. He came across as defensive like he resented the fact that he had to make his situation known. So I’m torn about this. On one hand I really respect the fact that he went to work as a waiter. That takes some humility and hard work. However, he did just do this interview and it included the name of the restaurant where he’s working. Did he get the job in exchange for the free publicity for the restaurant? I still remember how up his own ass Jon used to be, so this is real progress for him.
